Starting in 2014 the Lowell Pine Needlers, began an annual challenge. We selected a specific fabric and everyone makes something using the challenge fabric. Each person comes up with a unique project and the results are displayed at our annual Blackberry Jam Quilt Show in late July. We had so much fun doing this that we decided to make it an annual challenge.
This year we chose a fabric designed by Carrie Bloomston of Such Designs for Windham Fabrics. It’s called “Story” and as you can see, it offers up a multitude of color opportunities. It’s modern, it’s clean, it’s a wonderful challenge fabric.
It’s going to be fun to see what everyone comes up with this year. And if you are thinking we just make quilts, oh no! There could be baskets, or bags, or clothing, or aprons, or dolls…..we are challenged to use the fabric in whatever way we see fit.
So come on down to the show in July and see what we have created this year. Some of the challenge projects may even be offered up in our Silent Auction.
